Mix & Match Garden Restaurant

After coming back from Genting (will be blogging about that later), the boyfriend and I are clueless on what to eat for dinner. Just then, we remembered mentioning that we want to try the newly opened restaurant nearby but we never found the 'right time' to try it out. So since we both have no certain cravings, we decided to give it a try.

Mix & Match Garden Restaurant

They used mostly recycled items to decorate the restaurant. This is the entrance.
Look at the cute couple barrels!

They did not demolish the old house that was originally there but they revamped it and added a little touch to it. The overall concept of the restaurant is simple, yet it's very sophisticated and comfortable.

Here's some of the pictures past that bricks. As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words. My pictures, I think altogether, they will speak almost ten thousand words haha.

This is overview when you just walk through the entrance. Beautiful, right?

The outside seating area looking into the inside. The entire restaurant is lighted up with all these pretty little lightbulbs. So pretty and so hipster!

Another side of the outdoor area. This is near the entrance to the inside sitting area.

From my seat, I can see the inside through the wires. See how they hang the lightbulbs from the ceiling and they also maintained the zinc roof and all the remaining outlook of the house.

This is a covered area outside the house. Besides the usual lightbulbs to of course, lighten up the place so you can see what you're eating, they hang something else on the roof. Can see? Look below..

Recycled bottles. The reflection from the water and the bottle combined with the lights are just so beautiful I would eat the renovation hehe.

Hanging by the other side of the wall, are plants planted in recycled and painted plastic bottles. Great way to decorate the seemingly dull and ugly wire.

The top part of where I am sitting. Still mesmerized by the yellow shining thing.

Okaylah. I very jakun. I went to the toilet and the first thing that came to my mind was "Wah! So nice the basin area,  must take picture!". So here you go..

Finally, the main review that you guys are waiting for. The food. First, it's the food ordering. There are a lot on their menus that we tried ordering but they do not have it. It was quite a disappointment because it's not only one item, but at least 3 items if I remember correctly. It's 3 items out of the 5 or 6 that I wanted to order which is more than half.

Luckily, most of the food saved my feelings and I feel happier when I leave.

Cottage of Mushroom (RM8)

Honestly, the mushroom soup tasted a bit like Campbell instant mushroom soup but despite that fact, they give a very generous amount of mushrooms. Look at that!

Fried Lala (RM12)

Wanted to order Pandan Chicken but they don't have it so we ordered this and we did not regret the order. It is slightly spicy as the ingredients includes chilli padi but the combination of the ingredients and the lala is just awesome!

We finished this is less than 10 minutes. And yes, I used my hands to eat instead so I can grab more at a shorter time hahaha.

BBQ Salmon Steak (RM25)

You get to choose from the menu the type of sauce that you want for the fish item. For the salmon, I chose Roasted Sesame. At first taste, the sauce seems to be bitter but after a few taste, it is actually how roasted sesame tasted like. The combination between the salmon and the sauce is just right and although I haven't tried the other sauces, I would still recommend this combination hehe.

BBQ Aust Lamb Chop (RM22)

The boyfriend ordered this and upon description, he said the tenderness of the lamb chop is just right with the right amount of juiciness. Similarly with meat, you get to choose from a few different types of sauce for the meat you ordered. He felt that Black Pepper Sauce might go better with the meat instead of the Mushroom sauce that he has chosen.

Overall, this restaurant is worth a visit if you wanted to just get away with the indoor type of restaurants and to breathe in some fresh air. It might not be a high class restaurant where you can bring your date on a posh date but you can bring them there for a slightly romantic, simple and casual little date, your family for lunch/dinner or you can go with a bunch of friends to have a couple of beers or desserts, if you're into sweet stuff, and you can just chill and talk through the night. Just remember to leave before they close their doors for the night!
