MISS Coffee & Toast

Further down from Walnut Cafe & Bar but along the same row, in the same building (PFCC), Bandar Puteri Puchong,  there's another cafe called MISS Coffee & Toast. After my first visit, I went back at least another two or three more times within two weeks and here's why.

Outdoor sitting area
This is my favourite spot, you will know it by spotting my bag :P

The very first reason is the comfort level of the cafe. I have a habit of camping in cafes because I like the environment and the smell of coffee makes me energetic. And of course, I can eat/drink whenever I want to, it's like the best office in the world!

MISS Toast & Coffee has a couple of spots that are super comfortable, especially the couch area but I would usually sit near the wall cos it looks like the table by the beach (I can dream that I am at the beach k? Haha)
Look at the choice of pastries and cakes! Omnomnom

Although the ambience of the cafe is one of the important point, the food play the most important role, if the food is not good, regardless how awesome the environment is, you would of course not go back for the second time, right?

This is what I had on my very first visit. They have me a complimentary cracker with tuna, I guess it's because I wanted waffle but they ran out of waffle and I had to change my order. I am totally fine with that but I am very grateful for that small gesture :)

I ordered Classic Waffle (RM15) and I was surprised when the portion came. I mean, I know it looked sinful on the menu but I didn't know when it came, it looked even more sinful with the huge portion. The toast is super thick with 2 huge scoop of ice cream and cream with a bowl of honey.

The bread is crunchy at the side and soft in the centre, it my perfect type of toast. Then, I poured the honey on top of both ice cream and bread and take all 3 mixture in a mouthful and I don't think I want to eat it anyway else, the mouthful of sin taste so good I forgot what diet is hahaha.

Caffe Mocha (RM11)

Their Mocha tasted okay. It doesn't taste bad but it doesn't taste memorable either but hey, nice coffee art haha.
Fruits Waffle (RM16)

During my next visit, I finally had a taste of their waffle. I ordered fruits waffle so that I can feel slightly less guilty after my tedious gym session the night before but when I got greeted by this beauty, I once again, threw the guilt away.

The waffle is made to perfection where it's done just right with the right amount of crunchiness and it's not burnt. The flour mixture for the waffle is done pretty well as the waffle by itself taste good already. I have no complaint on the waffle and would definitely go back to try more.
Mini Toast (Set of 3 slices (RM12))
Left: Mixed Tuna Mayonnaise Spread
Middle: Scrambled Egg, Beef Bacon, Parsley
Right: Baked Cheesy Chicken Ham on Toast with Mozzarella

I'm not sure if it's only me but I taste olive oil in all 3 variations of the mini toast, which, in my opinion, does not enhance the taste of the toast. The bread is really crunchy and good but the toppings are lacking. The middle and right side toast taste way too salty and the olive oil doesn't help. The toast on the right was okay but it was not great either. I think the toast's great but they need to improve on the toppings.

Chocolate Cheesecake (I think) (RM12)

The cake has a very balance taste between chocolate and cheese and neither taste overpower each other. However, the texture is slightly hard and it somehow looks like it has been in the freezer for a couple of days. If they bring it new supply though, I would order this again.

Clockwise from top: Creamy Mushroom Soup (RM10), Caffe Mocha (RM11), Mushroom & Chicken Ham Carbonara (RM17.80)

The mushroom soup tasted fine, not too bad but not memorable either. However, the texture is quite thick and slimy (not the gross type but not pleasant either). The mushrooms in the soup was not chopped and you were given a couple of the entire piece (being a mushroom idiot, I don't know the type but it's the smaller types of mushroom).

Mocha was quite disappointing this time, it was too diluted and watery, the sides of the cups are stained and based on the look, it has been done quite half heartedly (the one in the picture has been stirred and drank :P)

The spaghetti is cooked together with green capsicum, which is not my favourite and the spaghetti tasted literally like capsicum at first few bites. It gets better after that though, overall, it tasted good but once again, it's just average good, not unique.

I think it's understandable that their main dishes are average as they are a fairly new cafe and based on the menu, everyone should understand that MISS's forte is on the Honey Toast and Waffle and they mastered these two perfectly and you will want to come back for more.

Upon saying that, here's their information so you can find your way here :)

PS: I notice that the some of the items' price on their menu differs from the actual bill, so do ensure you get clarifications (I notice mine after I have gone home)

Dae Jang Geum Korean Restaurant

Besides my love for Japanese food, and coffee, Korean food is also one of my favourite. I think if I were to just eat Japanese/Korean food for a month, I would survive. More Japanese though cos Korean food are slightly spicy and I can't take too spicy :(

So this time, boyfriend brought me to SS14 to have Dae Jang Geum for authentic Korean food, or so he say.I honestly wouldn't know how authentic taste like cos I have never been to Korea before.

Dae Jang Geum is located in one of the shop lot beside Jaya Shopping Centre. If you are in JSC, go out through the exit beside Starbucks/CIMB and you'll see this. Dae Jang Geum is just located at a further end on the first floor, on your left (that's if you come out from JSC)
When you go out from the mall, you should see this

Keep to the left side shop lot and you'll see this sign somehow

Entrance. Chinese character all over, yo!

Room for big group

They have a second floor, so this is the stairs that lead upstairs

The second floor

The shop is somewhat run down and it has a funny smell which is not very pleasant, sort of smell like dirty damp clothes. I would guess it's the mop that they use to mop the floor with, maybe? It would be great if the owner were to at least refurbish and do a major clean up. I think that would help a lot for the smell.

Enough about the interior, time for food!

Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap (RM21)

Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap is one of my favourite because it has rice, egg (look at that yolk), some meat and a whole lot of random vegetables and with the special sauce, all mixed together, it creates heaven. To be very honest though, bibimbap everywhere taste almost the same to me. It's like they all used the same sauce because I believe that's what made the most difference haha. It's really good, but it's not special to it's own though.

Dwen Jang Jiggae (RM18)

Hae Mul Pa Jeon (RM28)

The Korean pancake that is more expensive that either of our main meal but this, this is special to it's own and it's really, really good. Even though they fry it together with chilli (see the huge one in the picture) but you can't really taste the chilli, in fact, you'll be overwhelmed by the awesome dough of the pancake with the mixture of seafood and vegetable. You HAVE to dip it in the sauce. I have no idea how it's done but it tasted magical so it's worth every ringgit.

Cinema Goers Etiquettes (Do's & Don'ts)

So a while ago, as mentioned in A Day With Sue (Click on the link to read Part 1 and Part 2)  the boyfriend and I got adventurous in Genting and bought a pair of 1.15am movie tickets to watch The Avengers.

We were all ready and excited with popcorns and soft drinks and start munching away as soon as the trailer starts. What we did not expect is we are seated (actually, the boyfriend is more unlucky), right next to a narrator couple. Let me calm myself down and try to explain on what happens. *Breathe in, breathe out*

Okay, it was all good and dandy at first but around 30 minutes into the show, the couple has probably settled down and forgot that they are in a cinema where they are seated in a very long seat shared by many others. The girl seems quite oblivious of what is happening but in order to fit in, she tried to laugh VERY LOUDLY at every single joke that was thrown. If that is not bad enough, she laughed and repeated after the actor on screen. Lady, I can read the Malay subtitle and hear just fine. I don't need additional narration.

Besides that, she would talk to her boyfriend rather loudly like she is at the comfort of her own home. Her boyfriend, replied her EVEN louder than her. At 2 in the morning, in Genting's cold weather, they really made me boil, with anger.

The girl has obviously not watched Thor's single movie before (although she laughed like she understood most of the time) so when Thor flies off with his hammer at one scene, she mumbled something to her boyfriend and the boyfriend said the hammer is like a helicopter. I was like what?! Seriously? Ugh! Then, at the last scene when Thor returned to Asgard and the symbol was created on the grass because of the portal, she huh-ed so loud it's obvious that she is confused.

My main point of this blog post is to urge all of you out there to be ethical when you're in the cinema. Please be considerate about the other people that paid the same amount of money as you to watch the movie and we too, spend the same effort as you to get to the cinema. Can you please think of the people sitting on your left and right before proceeding to do silly things like talking? You can do that when you're at home, watching DVD or your cable TV, but not in the cinema please!

Oh wait, did I also mention that someone was taking selfie in the cinema while the movie is playing, with flash? Seriously people!

Here are some do's and don'ts that will make your cinema experience as well as everybody else's cinema experience a pleasant one!

DO PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY WHEN THE MOVIE STARTS.

If you are checking your phone before the movie starts, like during the trailers and advertisement, it's all fine because I get it, it's boring and uninteresting sometimes. However, please be considerate and keep your phone away and put in on silent when the movie starts. I really do not need the screen light on your phone distracting me while I am trying to focus on the movie screen. Also, the sound from the movie is good enough for me. I really do not need to know what ringing tone you are using on your phone, thank you!

DON’T TALK AT THE SCREEN UNLESS YOU ARE ALONE IN THE THEATRE.

This is what I am talking about. I believe everyone can relate to this. If you're alone in the cinema, go ahead and scream all you want and no one will stop you because there's no one else in the cinema but you and your friends. But if you're in the cinema packed cinema, please be considerate and understand that the last thing we need is distraction. You can comment after the movie ends, on your way out. Not DURING the movie when people are all focused on the movie. A few whispers here and there is fine. Do note that I said whisper, make sure that you don't distract other people from paying attention.

DO GO TO THE WASHROOM BEFORE THE MOVIE STARTS

I am guilty for this. Although I go to the toilet before the movie starts, somewhere in the middle of the movie, I confirm need to go to the toilet again because I drink too much water before and during the movie. But it is a good practice to go to the washroom before the movie starts so if you're not like me, you do not need to get up during the movie and disrupt other people and blocking their view on your way out of the cinema.

DON'T BRING YOUR CHILD TO WATCH MOVIES THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S ACTION MOVIE, LATE AT NIGHT.

Why would you want to bring your baby/toddlers to the cinema to watch a movie? They do not even understand what is going on and create a ruckus. I've seen kids that run around the cinema like it's their house, kids who started talking and screaming loudly, babies who cry in the cinema due to loud bombing and the mom have to shush the baby and carrying them all around the cinema. Seriously? Why would you even bring them to watch action movies at night? Isn't it time for them to sleep?

Last but not least,

DO RELAX AND ENJOY THE MOVIE.

The only reason you paid to go to the cinema to watch a movie is to enjoy the movie. So if everyone is practicing on being a good cinema goers, there shouldn't be a problem for you to sit back, relax and enjoy the movie!

A Day With Sue | Episode 2

For this episode of A Day With Sue, I will bring you to a world of science as I visited Petrosains. I have been wanting to visit Petrosains since, probably 6 years ago but I didn't manage to go till now.

At first, I was excited..

And then, I saw the line to the entrance..

So I waited.. and waited..

Finally, my capsule is here to bring me to the world of science, Petrosains!

And now I'm happy!

Hey, I just created a short skit out of my pictures! Ain't I awesome or what? Okaylah, the queue was long but the wait is not long lah, I was just overreacting haha.

The first section we landed was The Known Universe, where we were introduced to planets, galaxies, The Big Bang and stars.

I experienced The Great Red Spot from Jupiter in this capsule. The Great Red Spot is a storm about 12,400 miles (20,000 kilometers) long and 7,500 miles (12,000 km) wide, about two to three times larger than Earth. Winds at its oval edges can reach up to 425 mph (680 km/h). If this happens on Earth, we would have disappeared.

Next, I got on space control centre and I tried to navigate the spaceship but they refuse to listen to me, so I just left them there. The mic really works, I am amazed!

The space area is quite amusing. They even have video of spaceman sharing with us their experience and experiment. I finally know how they brush teeth in space. They sort of just er, swallow the toothpaste after brushing their teeth because there's no other way!

Other things that was shared are their sleeping bag and you can experiment it with the sound they have to endure when they sleep and more! The space section is one of my favourite through the entire Petrosains.

Next, I got onto this twist thingy you can find in playground and you can sort of see the stars when you twist fast enough. I got dizzy after it spins two rounds haha but t'was fun!

Next, the dinosaur.

This cute T-Rex behind the human T-Rex can rap and dance every time you come in through the entrance. It raps in both BM and English and it's cute and short little limbs will shake every time he rap. (Yes, we went through the door a couple of times to see him dance. Hahaha)

Hello, big little one!

Right in the middle, there is a reenactment of the extinct animals. Look at that cute elephant on the left and also turtles used to be huge.

One of my favourite extinct animal, the sabre tooth tiger. Although it look damn awesome, maybe it's not such a bad thing that it's not on Earth anymore? Imagine if one of this attack you..

Right after the dinosaur section, we are brought to the cafeteria where we can sit and rest for a bit and to buy some water and snacks if you need to. There are also tables with things where you can test your brain to. (I failed horribly, I'm not creative enough to do the puzzles)

The Interactive Art area! There are a lot of different types of interactive screens and this is my personal favourite. You stand on the spot and the butterflies will fly all over and land on your shadow. So damn cool!

You get in this spaceship, and suddenly, you're a mouse in a mouse racing track. This thing shakes so vigorously I got nausea when the ride ends haha

The next thing I know, I am dressing up to exit an emergency route. (Must make sure I wear properly so I don't die)

All smiley even when I am about to go through an EMERGENCY exit.

I didn't really read the description but I think this is used by the offshore engineers during emergency. You are supposed to be sitting on the net and twist your entire body at every turning until you reach the bottom. It's not a straight fall thing but I was so nervous I grabbed the net quite hard so by the time I reached the bottom, my palms are red from grabbing the net too tight.

Another of my favourite section in Petrosains is SPEED! We get to play all sorts of games that is speed related like your speed in throwing a baseball and it has recordings and all. Damn cool.

My favourite game though, is the light game where you were given 30 seconds to press the buttons where the lights are on as much as you can. I forgot to take a picture as I was too excited.

After this portion, the remaining section is more about small experiments and simple games. In my personal opinion, I think that they made some sections super fun and some sections are boring where I just walked past it without stopping. Maybe if they insert some additional fun in those quizzes area, people would stay by to understand more.

Nevertheless, it was an awesome experience and I will definitely be back when they change the dinosaur exhibition to something else so I can experience a different thing!
