A Day With Sue | Episode 3 [Part 1]

Episode 3 (Part 1): Pulau Ketam (MUST VISIT)
*All pictures are unedited JPEG cos I lazy hahaha

Yes, there's a title this time because this place is special hehehe. I have always heard about Pulau Ketam and how it was a man-made island and it's like a larger version of Chew Jetty in Penang where the houses are built on wooden planks but I have never visited the island before, and it was about 2 years ago when I heard about it.

I was over excited when I know that I am going to be heading there, thanks to Kathy, who is stopping by Malaysia before going to Vietnam. We planned to hike Broga so she could have her sunrise shot but the boyfriend suggested Pulau Ketam instead so we could experience something different.

Taking a train to Port Klang!

Mandatory selfie with the train ticket

Such a pretty view. This was taken on the way to the island on a speedboat.

TT20, our home for the day, and night. Aunt Jennifer, who used to be tour guide when she was younger, decided to go back to her hometown, Pulau Ketam to her family home and soon later, bought another one and renovated it to be a comfortable homestay called TT20.

The hang out area that Aunt Jennifer made for her guests.

Random jetty from the tons of jetty just because it looks good hehehe.

This is Aunt Jennifer's house. She doesn't usually rent this out but on the day we went, something happened and the groups that was staying in the other house was big so she shifted the smaller group, which is us to her own house.

Imagine sleeping on the dock and staring at the stars at night

Boat pass by shot haha

Trying out sunset shot with the guidance of my awesome friend, Kathy.

We were actually standing at the bridge for about an hour for the sun to set. That's dedication, okay? Hahaha

Next, of course is to conquer Pulau Ketam food!

Freshly pressed bamboo water, sweetness beyond words. Just how I like it.

Spare parts porridge with raw egg, that of course gets cooked cause the porridge is hot enough to cook the egg but it's just right for our tongue. It tasted a little bland though, so be prepared to pour some soy from the bottle on the table.

Next, we went to a nearby restaurants for seafood because well, you're on an island so seafood is a given.

To conclude our dinner in Pulau Ketam, I can only say one thing. Although the look of all the dishes look promising and good, we can only taste salt. Everything is salty, not one of the dishes above taste half as edible as it look. I assume because they are surrounded by seawater and somehow the water they used are slightly salty? I have no idea lol.

Did I tell you their burger is also salty?

To conclude the night, we went to the temple and apparently it's either the first or fifteenth day of the lunar month so it was a very busy and lively night. We even manage to watch an opera show. Too bad it's in Teochew so we couldn't understand.

That was the end of one day. Although the boat ride and travelling on train was very tiring, it was a very valuable memory.

Stay tune for Part 2, for the next day's adventure! :)
